There are two main ways to import and it depends on the FOB value and nature of goods to be imported: regime of IMPORTATION FOR CONSUMPTION and SIMPLIFIED IMPORT DECLARATION.
The first way is applicable to merchandise whose FOB value exceeds US$ 2, 000, for which it is required that Customs agency, which acts as your representative, carries out clearance proceedings presenting a Single Customs Declaration format and any relevant documentation.

The second way is applicable to merchandise whose FOB value is less than or equal to US$ 2, 000. In this case you can make proceedings directly at the Customs Clearance window by presenting a Simplified Import Declaration or through a Customs agency (it is not compulsory), which as your representative shall submit information on declaration electronically.

In both cases, we suggest you to inform previously on any existing additional requirements applicable to merchandises to be imported since, depending on their nature, they could be a prohibited or restricted importation, for which permission, certification or an entry authorization could be required in accordance with the specific regulatory laws.
