TARIFF RATE QUOTAS

  1. A tariff rate quota is a trade policy measure that enables importation with a tariff preferential treatment thanks to an international trade agreement undersigned by Peru in an established amount and duration. According to Supreme Decree N° 007-2009.MINCETUR, the mechanism to be used in the application of tariff rate quotas is “first in, first out”. Once a means of transport arrives at a Customs primary area, the quantity within the tariff rate quota will be requested. Imported quantities that exceed an amount fixed as a quota will pay regular duties or a minor preferential tariff treatment as established in the Agreement.
